After a tough loss against Adelaide Adrenaline the KODIAK Melbourne Mustangs bounced back in style with a 6-3 win against Perth Thunder on Sunday at O’Brien Group Arena.

The win came off the back of a hattrick from fan-favourite Sean Jones. Sean scored all of his goals in the first period. In a weird quirk Perth Thunder bounced back in the second scoring three goals themselves. But thankfully, the Mustangs were able to secure three more in the last period, with goals to Brett Ferguson, Pat O’Kane and Troy Robertson. All goals were scored at the same end in this game. 

With strong games from Jones, Ferguson and Robertson and the usual strong games from Jamie Bourke, Pat O’kane, Brendan McDowell and with everyone pulling their weight there were plenty of highlights from the game. With the Perth goalie facing 22 shots in the last period the score could have been much higher.

The Mustangs head over to Perth next weekend to again face Thunder in a double header with games on Saturday and Sunday. They’ll get on the plane full of confidence looking to add two more wins. Keep an eye out on our social media channels for details about streaming and updates for these games. 

Our next home game is our first Friday Night Derby against cross town rivals Melbourne Ice. The game is on Friday May 11 at O’Brien Group Arena. Puck drop is 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster. Memberships are still available. You should not delay on purchasing tickets because this game will likely sell out.
