The MOAT: Melbourne Mustangs are pleased to announce the signing of the newest member of the Mustangs family, Canadian left-winger Éric Louis-Seize for the 2016 AIHL season. Louis-Seize, 26, played four years in the Canadian Interuniversity Sports league with the Royal Military College Paladins. In his final season in 2015-2016 he recorded nineteen points (8-11-19) and 14 penalty minutes in 27 games, while wearing the Captain's "C". He was then named the hockey team's MVP at the RMC Paladins Awards Banquet. The 188cm (6'2"), 90kg (200lbs) forward brings much needed size to the line-up. In his junior days, Louis-Seize was touted as an 'role player', 'a real team-first kind of guy.' Known mostly for his presence in an energy player role, Louis-Seize was originally ranked 148th overall by Central Scouting - however he went undrafted. A native of Montreal, Quebec, Louis-Seize was known for bucking the trend and not wearing his traditional name on his jersey - opting to go with "Louis XVI." With seize being the French word for sixteen, "Louis-Seize" is an indirect translation to "Louis the 16th" - the former King of France (husband of Maria Antoinette) in the 1700s. |
