The Melbourne Mustangs Ice Hockey Club announced a successful return to ice hockey in 2022 following a two-year break due to COVID at the recent Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 31st January 2023. Whilst the club were able to hold a small number of derby games as part of the Yarra Cup in 2021, it was great to have AIHL hockey back in 2022. The Mustangs are looking forward to the expansion of the league in 2023 with the addition of the Central Coast Rhinos and the Brisbane Lightning as well as the return of the Perth Thunder and the Adelaide Adrenaline. Last year we were successful in securing a COVID Recovery Grant that partially funded our ice time and enabled us to expand our engagement with our fans, volunteers and sponsors. We extend our thanks to the Victorian Government and the Department of Sport and Recreation for their much-needed financial support of the club. Thanks to the work of our Secretary – Adrian Webb in helping us to secure this grant. In 2023 we are looking forward to finally being able to celebrate our 10 year anniversary with a mini tournament consisting of both past and present Mustangs prior to the start of the season. This mini tournament will take place on Saturday the 4th March and is FREE for all. CEO Joyce Price wanted to personally thank all our valuable dedicated sponsors, players, volunteers. Members, and fans for all your support in 2022 on behalf of the Melbourne Mustangs organisation. Your dedication of the many hours you share with us motivates the committee to new heights each season. Thank you once again, and we looking forward to seeing you at our games again in 2023.
